It’s all about ten for 2010

  15/12/2009
I found a great idea this week on The Guardian website - the Guardian is one of the UK’s largest newspapers. On average they have 1.2 million readers each day.

Life's a beach

  15/12/2009

This week sees us welcome summer and what is one of our favourite past times in the summer? To hit the beach or at least relax wherever possible by the water.

Just a natural service

  15/12/2009

What is with the weather this November? As I sit here writing The Greener Life this week another unexpected rain shower is passing through. Just when I think it’s safe to hang out the washing another shower blows through and then is gone just as quickly.

The resources industry: animal, mineral, vegetable..

  09/09/2009
Once again I’m off around the country.  Just got back from the wonders of Shark Bay-  where the wildflowers are incredible and I spied a pod of whales and some frolicking dolphins as well as a couple of loggerhead turtles flippering under the mighty cliffs -and it seemed I was on a plane again.

Last one out, turn off the light

  04/09/2009

The strangest things come to mind when you’re really busy.  I was sending out an email to NACC’s email distribution list about things that are happening and local goings-on.

Who’s the galah then?

  27/08/2009
I was addressing a small conference on Monday about climate change and adaptation.  It was interesting, because after talking about how awful the impacts might be for our neck of the woods, we were all still quite upbeat.  Why?  Because we’re resilient, we’re adaptable.

Do It Anyway

When the resource fits..

  06/08/2009

It does seem to be the case that in Western Australian one and a half degrees of separation is the norm.  I've yet to find anyone who made it past two!

To err is human. So is adapting

  25/07/2009
Watching television and listening to radio I’ve noticed some interesting things lately. Our national broadcaster, the ABC, dedicates lots of airtime to global warming and the greenhouse effect, while the commercial stations don’t seem to take as much notice . . .

Rain on the Plain

  15/07/2009
Okay, okay it's raining. Isn't it great.  Does it mean climate change has gone away?  I don't think so, but even if by some remarkable chance all the science is wrong and we're going back to how it used to be, aren't we learning a huge amount because we've had to think about everything?

The Greener Life – Not just for Greenies

  25/06/2009
Hi – my name is Helen and each week I am responsible for putting together the Greener Life.

Want a tax break?

  16/06/2009
I’ve only got one thing to say this week.  And I want to say it loudly and longly:  HELP THE ENVIRONMENT - DONATE TO NACC.  It’s a tax deduction and a great thing to do for the environment.

The maven crows..

  08/06/2009
Once again I’m on the road.  I’m writing this in a hotel room in Perth following dinner with a group of people who have the environment at heart.  The conversation around the dinner table proved yet again the power of networks and the community to make change happen.

Fly the message home

  08/06/2009
While reading Brian Poller's column sitting here in the Perth domestic terminal waiting to fly to Adelaide, I was thinking about his idea of the disease he called PE (Product Envy). . .
